As your constituent from [State] I ask for you to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
1 million people in Gaza are now starving. Children are being killed off by Israel at a rate of 1 per 10 minutes. Newborns and young moms are dying without functional hospitals. Surgeons are operating with no anesthetics. Diseases are spreading as clean water is virtually gone in Gaza.
As relief organizations keep saying, no one has seen anything like this in our lifetimes – what Israel is doing is unprecedented in the 21st century.
When experts like Israeli Holocaust expert, Prof. Raz Segal acknowledge that his country is committing a “textbook case of genocide,” or Israeli genocide scholar, Prof. Omer Bertov states that, Israel’s “genocidal intent” to “cleanse” Gaza of its indigenous population is well-established at this point, let us be serious about not enabling such cruelty.
In this moment, you are privileged to be a Senator. That is, a lawmaker of Israel’s main weapons supplier. You, more than anyone else in this country (other than President Biden) can stop this cruelty and unprecedented suffering. Put simply, you have a lot of responsibility, Senator.
I am asking you to do two things: (1) call for an immediate ceasefire and (2) restrict further military funding of Israeli assault on civilians.
“If this relentless bombardment and siege continue, there will be no ‘day after’ for Gaza. It will be too late. Hundreds of thousands of lives hang in the balance today.” That is the recent, joint conclusion of CARE USA, Oxfam, Mercy Corps, Save our Children and other major humanitarian organizations.
